WENRA published in November 2010 a statement on safety objectives for new nuclear power plants. Based on these safety objectives, the Reactor Harmonisation Working Group (RHWG) of WENRA started to develop common positions on selected key safety issues for the design of new NPPs.
WENRA publishes now for public comments a report “Safety of new NPP designs” by RHWG which sets out these common positions. The report also discusses some considerations based on the major lessons from the TEPCO Fukushima Dai-ichi accident concerning the design of new nuclear power plants, and how they are covered in the new reactor safety objectives and the common positions.
Comments are requested by 10 January 2013.
